Heathland environments may appear ‘wild’ and ‘natural’ but are in fact managed landscapes and would look very different without human intervention.

In this unit Pupils;

  • use their sense to investigate, explore and experience a heathland environment

  • identify some of the problems affecting the heathland and suggest ways of best protecting the environment

  • communicate their findings and feelings about heathland in the form of a felted heathland landscape
