Ann Glanville, self-proclaimed 'champion rower of the world', rowed goods across the Tamar and raced unbeaten in ports around Britain and in France.

In this unit pupils:

  • travel on the River Tamar and bump into a character from the past
  • investigate historical sources to find out what life was like in Saltash before the Tamar bridges were built
  • draw on existing sea shanties to compose their own rowing song
